How to Ensure Email Deliverability and Avoid Unnecessary Delays

Read this guide to help keep our emails out of the spam folder and Gmail's "Promotions" tab

If you use Gmail, you may notice that some emails are sorted into tabs like Promotions, Social or Updates instead of your main inbox.

This is normal. Gmail automatically organizes messages to help keep your inbox clean. However, it can sometimes cause you to miss important emails from us.

And sometimes, despite our best efforts to keep in line with the "best practices" of email, our messages can even go to the spam or junk folder.

Below are the best ways to make sure you always see our emails.

Quick summary

To make sure you always receive our emails:

  • Move our emails to your Primary tab or mark them as Not spam if needed.
  • Add us to your contacts.
  • Reply to or interact with our emails.
  • Optionally, turn off the Gmail Promotions tab.

Best fix: Move our email to your Primary inbox

This is the most effective solution because it teaches Gmail that you want our emails delivered to your main inbox.

On Desktop

  1. Open your Spam / Junk folder or Promotions tab.
  2. Find an email from us.
  3. If the email is in spam, click the checkmark box to the left of the email, then click Not Spam just above the list of emails.
  4. If the email is in Promotions or another category tab, drag the email into the Primary tab.
  5. If Gmail asks whether to do this for future messages, click Yes.

On Mobile

  1. Open the Gmail app.
  2. Check your Spam / Junk folder or Promotions tab.
  3. Open an email from us.
  4. Tap the three dots menu.
  5. Choose Move to Primary.

This helps Gmail learn that future emails from us should go to your Primary inbox.

Other ways to make sure you don't miss our emails

Add us to your contacts

Saving our email address can help Gmail recognize that you want to receive messages from us.

  1. Open one of our emails.
  2. Click the sender name.
  3. Select Add to Contacts.

Reply to one of our emails

Even a quick reply can help signal to Gmail that our emails are wanted and important to you.

Star or mark our email as important

Click the star next to our email or mark the message as important. This can help reinforce that you want to see future emails from us.

Optional: Turn off the Gmail Promotions tab

If you prefer to see all emails in one inbox, you can disable Gmail's inbox tabs.

  1. Go to your Gmail inbox on desktop.
  2. Click the gear icon for Settings.
  3. Select See all settings.
  4. Go to the Inbox tab.
  5. Uncheck Promotions.
  6. Click Save Changes.

After this, Gmail will show more of your messages together in your main inbox instead of separating them into tabs.

Why emails go to Gmail's Promotions tab

Gmail may place emails in Promotions when they look like marketing, account updates or bulk messages. This does not mean the email is spam. It simply means Gmail is organizing your inbox automatically.

  • The message was sent to many people at once.
  • The email includes marketing-style formatting, images or buttons.
  • The message contains offers, updates or announcements.

Still not seeing our emails?

If you cannot find an email from us, try these quick checks:

  • Check your Promotions tab.
  • Check your Spam folder.
  • Search Gmail for our email address or company name.

Gmail Promotions Tab FAQs

Why are emails going to my Promotions tab?

Gmail automatically sorts some emails into categories like Primary, Promotions, Social and Updates. This does not mean the email is spam. Gmail may place order updates, newsletters or marketing-style messages in Promotions based on how the message looks and how you interact with similar emails.

How do I move emails to Primary in Gmail?

On desktop, open the Promotions tab, find an email from DocuCopies, drag it into the Primary tab and confirm the change if Gmail asks. On mobile, open the email in the Gmail app, tap the menu and choose Move to Primary.

What should I do if an email goes to Spam?

Open your Spam folder, find the email from DocuCopies and click Not spam. This helps Gmail understand that our emails are safe and should be delivered to your inbox in the future.

Will adding DocuCopies to my contacts help?

Yes. Adding DocuCopies to your contacts can help Gmail recognize that you want to receive our emails. Replying to, starring or opening our emails can also help Gmail learn that these messages are important to you.

Can I turn off the Gmail Promotions tab completely?

Yes. In Gmail on desktop, go to Settings, select See all settings, open the Inbox tab, uncheck Promotions and save your changes. This removes the Promotions category from your inbox view.
