While mailing is one popular use of this product, you don't need to mail postcards to make an impact. Use them like flyers to give audiences a small-format advertisement that fits in their pockets. Drop them off in high-traffic locations or hand them out at trade shows, shopping centers and public events.

Postcard Mailing Services

  • First Class Postcard Mailing

Choose this option for the fastest delivery. USPS estimates postcards mailed 1st class to arrive to their destination within 1-5 business days.

  • Third Class Postcard Mailing

When budget is a bigger concern than delivery speed, choose Third Class Mailing for your custom postcards. This gets a much lower postage rate than First Class. The tradeoff is that this service may take up to several weeks for postcards to reach their destinations, so plan accordingly.

  • Every Door Direct Mailing (Geo-targeted)

Want to mail postcards to every address in a given area? Check out Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) postcards to choose your EDDM-qualified postcard sizes, targeted mail routes and more.

Printing postcards with bleeds?

Postcard printing looks best with bleeds. A bleed involves printing your postcard art slightly larger than the finish size, then trimming through the edges of the artwork to remove the white borders. Please note, bleeds require a special file setup. See Templates section or click here for detailed information on bleeds.

"Thank you for the reorder option--that saves so much time! Also love your fast and consistent turn around time, this really helps my planning so we don't run out of postcards. :)"Trish W. - MN

"So far we have ordered a handful of times. We've had flyers, post cards, and even newsletters printed and each and every time we are amazed. The pricing is phenomenal for our needs and the items always arrive quicker than expected. Because of this, we don't shop printers elsewhere."Cassandra L. - PA

"This is a total testament to using Docucopies. I had a Makerfest happening Sat morning. It's Thursday morning & I need postcards printed. I try to support local so I call nearby FEDEX. The quote for 250 postcards double-sided was $459! I expected to pay but not that! My local brander didn't even know who. I thought why not try calling you. Reached Amy and she had the answers. I was able to order 600 postcards double-sided and received them Friday by 12 PM. I believe the job with the rush shipping was $102.00 Amy guided me all the way and when I checked in with Anne she reassured me all was fine with the order when I placed it and I received it like clockwork Friday! Amazing! Thank you!"Denise L. - CA

"You did an outstanding job with making my husband's original paintings into notecards. Thank you!"Kathleen F. - AZ

"I am thrilled that I found you! I have to print things for multiple schools that I have work with and it can get really expensive at Fed Ex. Many times they have an issue with the document that I upload. I honestly thought you wouldn't be able to do the postcards because of what I uploaded and I was THRILLED when I got a box of perfect postcards! You obviously took my document and set it up for me to make that happen! I really appreciate it! The quality of both boxes of copies that I received was great and I felt like it took little to no effort to order them and then they just showed at my door. :) I wish I had found you SOOOO Much sooner. And I will be ordering from you far more many times!!!!!"Dane A. - FL

Postcard Printing & Mailing FAQ

Will I see a proof before my postcards are printed?

Correctly set-up PDF or image files go directly into production. No proof step is needed, which keeps your turnaround time as fast as possible. If your file has issues such as incorrect sizing or missing bleeds, our team will contact you before printing. Digital proofs are available on request.

If you would prefer a physical hard-copy proof mailed to you before full production runs, select that option on the order form. Note that this adds both time and cost to your order.

How long does postcard printing and mailing take?

Production time varies based on the options selected. Enter your ZIP code in the delivery estimator on the order form to see current turnaround times and shipping costs for your specific job. For mailing orders, USPS delivery time is added on top of production and shipping time.

What is a standard postcard mailing size?

Postcards are printed on a wide variety of sizes, both for mailing and non-mailing purposes. Typical postcard sizes are 4x6", 5x7", 5.5x8.5", and 6x9", though it is not uncommon to see postcards printed as large as 9x12".

Every Door Direct Mail® (EDDM) has more specific requirements. For EDDM sizes, or to start targeting your postcard delivery routes now, go to the EDDM page. EDDM Postcard Mailing

What weight / thickness should my postcard be?

Most postcards are printed on 100# Cover Gloss or Smooth. This heavy card stock is common for business cards, postcards and book covers.

If you want something sturdier, we recommend the 16-pt Extra Thick Cover.

Another great option for postcards with bright graphics or photos is the 12-pt C1S. This is a sturdy card stock with a high-gloss finish on one side, and an uncoated surface on the other (so it can be written on).

Can you print and mail postcards?

Yes we can. For a full quote including postage, enter your job details on the order form and select 1st Class or 3rd Class from the Bulk Mailing dropdown menu.

If you want the post office to deliver your postcards to every address within a custom targeted area, you'll want EDDM postcard printing instead. EDDM Postcard Mailing

How much does mailing a postcard cost?

Postage prices can vary depending on the service chosen, the postcard size, and occasional price increases from USPS. Enter your job details to see the current postage price.

What file format should I submit for postcard printing?

PDF is strongly preferred. Make sure fonts are embedded and images are at least 300 DPI at the final print size. JPG and PNG files are also accepted, but a correctly set-up PDF will go directly into production with no delay.

For help preparing your file, see our artwork setup guidelines and downloadable templates. File Setup Guidelines

Should I design my postcard with a bleed?

Bleeds are strongly recommended if your design has color, photos, or graphics that extend to the edge of the postcard. Without a bleed, a thin white border will be present appear along the edges after trimming. A bleed involves extending your artwork slightly beyond the finished size so it can be trimmed cleanly.

See our bleed setup guide or download a template for your postcard size to get started. How to Design a Bleed

Can I design my postcard in Canva?

Yes. Canva supports bleed setup and PDF export for print. Be sure to enable the bleed and crop mark options when exporting your file as a PDF (Print) for the best results.

Our step-by-step tutorial walks you through the entire process. Design Bleeds in Canva

What is the difference between 1st Class and 3rd Class postcard mailing?

1st Class mailing is the faster option. USPS estimates delivery within 1–5 business days, and undeliverable pieces are forwarded or returned. This is the best choice for time-sensitive campaigns.

3rd Class (Marketing Mail) costs less per piece but can take several weeks to deliver and does not include forwarding or return service. Choose this option when budget matters more than delivery speed.

Do I need to provide a mailing list?

Yes, for 1st Class and 3rd Class mailing you supply your own recipient list. It can be uploaded in the shopping cart or any time after placing your order. The list should be in CSV or Excel format with columns for name, address, city, state, and ZIP code.

If you want to mail to every address in a geographic area without a list, Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) may be a better fit. EDDM Postcard Mailing

What is the cheapest way to mail postcards in bulk?

3rd Class (Marketing Mail) offers the lowest postage rate for bulk campaigns where delivery timing is flexible. For neighborhood or route-based campaigns, Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) is often even more affordable per piece since no purchased mailing list is required.

Enter your job details on the order form to compare current postage pricing for each option. EDDM Postcard Mailing

Can I order postcards in multiple designs?

Yes. Check the I need multiple versions option on the order form and enter the number of versions you need. Each version can have different artwork while sharing the same paper, size, and finishing specs.

What is the difference between C1S and C2S paper?

C1S (Coated 1 Side) has a glossy finish on the front and an uncoated back. This is a popular choice for mailed postcards because addresses, ink, and handwriting adhere better to the uncoated side. C2S (Coated 2 Sides) is coated on both sides and is best suited for hand-distribution, displays, or any use where the back does not need to be written on.
