Docucopies.com, the leading provider of discount color copies and printing in the US, has announced the launch of their LinkedIn business profile in an attempt to expand their ever-growing social network.

While the profile is in itself nothing particularly exciting - just a brief overview of the company and what they specialize in (cheap color copies and printing) - what it represents is exciting for the company's marketing, SEO and social networking team.

"There's certainly a lot of buzz going through the business world about social media and social networking," says Roe Pressley, who oversees the company's social networking agenda. "A lot of it is just hype that doesn't apply to the average business model. But there's definitely elements of social networking that can be beneficial for any business, ours included."

Over the last year, the discount color copying and printing company has opened accounts on Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, and finally LinkedIn, in an attempt to see what these services could do for their company. Some, says Pressley, have provided no measurable benefit while others have been fairly successful at not just advertising and marketing, but fostering dialogues with customers over various issues relating to the business or industry.

LinkedIn is the new frontier. Unlike other social networks their service is geared specifically at business professionals, which Pressley believes may be more beneficial for Docucopies since many of their copying and printing clients are actually resellers.

"Our hope is that with time, LinkedIn will do for our business-to-business networking what other services are supposed to do for business-to-consumer networking," he says. "But like any technology or service, we will only get out of it what we put into it as far as time and money go. And nothing guarantees we'll even get that."
